riveting tail about three minor league players, on the rise to the majors They aren t your typical its all about me players And the women they meet, aren t their typical groupies admirers You find yourself rooting for all 6 characters 5 stars This book is a whole lot of stories jammed between two covers It s a two book bundle, with the first book, Extra Innings, comprised of 3 novellas, and a second full length Harlequin, In His Wildest Dreams As I always do for compilations such as this, I average out the ratings I give for each individual story and that is the rating for the entire volume.Extra InningsPlaying the Field 4 StarsOf all the stories, in this fist book, this was the only one I really enjoyed The plot was plausible, t This book is a whole lot of stories jammed between one I really enjoyed The plot was plausible, the characters were believable with believable motivations Nothing felt forced In fact, I kinda wish that this was a full novel and not a short, because I just wanted.Bringing the Heat 2 StarsThis second book was where cracks started to show, mostly in the facts arena er, ballpark Yes, There was stuff about baseball that just didn t ring true in the first book baseball s my sport to watch , but stuff really started to hit home in this one about just how little the author knows about the sport Now, I m no expert, but I know enough to know that the things that happen in this story and the third one just wouldn t fly Things like no curfews, underage players being served IN THE HOTEL BAR, and the players NEVER showing up at the field to practice during the day of the games is just wrong There is no way these players would have had all these afternoons available to be running around chasing a piece of ass the way they were.Plus, in this installment, BOTH characters were just so unlikable, I m surprised I didn t give this one a 1 star rating There s still time. His Lucky Charm 3 StarsAgain, it s the little things that dragged me out of this story as mentioned above , and then a coupleLike one one point in the book, it mentions a 5 game road trip to play the same team Um, no, MiLB players follow the same sort of schedule that MLB players do, and there are NEVER 5 day series unless there s a couple double headers to make up for postponed games It s the little things that authors get wrong that make me angry ok, the big things too , because it just means they didn t care enough to get them right or run the book by the right people to find out for sure.In His Wildest Dreams 1 Star DNF This book rubbed me the wrong way from the start I m actually surprised I made it to the hallway point before giving up.None of the characters had any redeeming qualities All of them were just so stereotypical that it was laughable It sucked, I DNFed it Time to move on As far as the 3 short stories go Extra Innings.Liked the first and third ones, but the second one seemed to take forever to get through even though it was a short story All three stories had to do with 3 minor league baseball players waiting hoping to get called up to the majors I don t always care for anthologies due to the shortness of the stories and the stories sometimes feeling rushed The other story In His Wildest Dreams was actually an addition to this book of a story that As far as the 3 short stories go Extra Innings.Liked the first and third ones, but the second one seemed to take forever to get through even though it was a short story All three stories had to do with 3 minor league baseball players waiting hoping to get called up to the majors I don t always care for anthologies due to the shortness of the stories and the stories sometimes feeling rushed The other story In His Wildest Dreams was actually an addition to this book of a story that was released 10 years ago It was included in this book as a part of the 10th anniversary celebration of Harlequin Blaze. It centered on the heroine needing an additional participant in her dream study in order to finish her Master s Degree in psychology The heroine s best friend offers up her brother, the hero, as the final participant The hero has a long history of dating, but not committing to anyone. He reluctantly agrees to participate in the study in order to be able to use a vacation cabin during a year that was supposed to be his sister s turn. The sister warns the heroine that the hero is not someone she should get involved with, that he was charming but would never commit to anyone, etc She then warns the hero that he better not even think of getting involved with the heroine, as the heroine has too much she needs to take care of in order to finish her degree and is not the type to get involved with someone like him.Of course, you can figure out what happens from there I really liked all the stories However I m not really a fan of short stories normally because I feel like the endings are abrupt but that s just a personal preference So that was my only real problem with these stories Other than that they were good. The first three stories are baseball romance stories are really cute The only problem that I had was that they were too short I really liked the characters and would have liked to see their stories expanded someThe fourth story isn t sports related, but it also was pretty good It was a littledetailed than the others. I just wantedof each of those hunky ball players For these three players, it s all about scoringIn high school, Elizabeth Smith had a serious crush on shortstop Dylan Andrews Now she has to interview him for an article Can she stay professionalor will she end up pulling him behind the bleachers Pitcher Rob Perry wants to prove that he s ready for the Show But his second chance could turn into a double play when Tori Gallagher whose father owns a Major League team makes one pitch that Rob can t refuseFirst baseman Eric Lessing s game has never been consistent until Tess Meyers ignited a winning streak Now with Major League dreams on the line will getting lucky with his charm result in foul play Love the sports romances, but i wished they gave each story longer than 70 pages There wasn t enough time to build a believable romance. I liked three of the four stories.I couldn t get into the second one.but the rest were great I really enjoyed them.
