with the darkness in her stories With Taken, first book of the Dark Legacy Duet, she took matters way farther, sending me spiralling down all along with Helena With each new generation of the Willow quadruplets daughters, the elder Scafoni son chooses the one who will be his to torment and do as he pleases for the next year, before passing her off to his brothers One of the first things to came to my mind when I m writing my review is that it s is one of these books I absolutely loved to hate The emotions it evoked in me were very strong and painful, yet I loved them and couldn t stop reading with eyes, I can imagine, wide like saucers Sebastian is a hero or should I say, villain who could be Jethro or Tony s brother Do you see what I mean Ruthless and merciless, he takes great pleasure in Helena s distress The thing is that there is also that mystery surrounding him, his complex personality I couldn t decipher, which intrigued me.The author explored with a poignant realism the heroine s emotions, propelling me into the depth of Sebastian s sadism I felt everything she felt, every humiliation or beating hitting me in the gut I wanted to rebel and cover, to scream and lash out Omg, I was so spent by the intensity of this story Hot, cold, up, down, I was as disoriented as the strong and resilent Helena. But the strong emotions aren t the only thing that compelled me the tight plot kept me on the edge of my seat from the get go, glued to the pages, looking for some revelations or deeds that would eventually explain everything and make it all better Did I find my answers You ll have to find out by yourself but let me tell you that the ending was explosive and left me with my heart pounding Fortunately for me, book 2, is coming very soon Enjoy the ride ladies I VOLUNTARILY REVIEWED AN ARC COPY OF THIS BOOK THANK YOU Going in ARC kindely provided by the author via Give me book promotion in exchange for an honest review Holy shitthe blurbI m in serious NEEDand it s NOT SPEED I m talking aboutLOLWell, noit wasn t SPEED I needed at all, even though I have never had read a book as fast as I did this takes a deep breath Natasha Knight delivered a story that was in exchange for an honest review Holy shitthe blurbI m in serious NEEDand it s NOT SPEED I m talking aboutLOLWell, noit wasn t SPEED I needed at all, even though I have never had read a book as fast as I did this takes a deep breath Natasha Knight delivered a story that was simply so pent up with angsty, compulsive, questionable, complex and utterly complicated emotions that it made me dizzy.I loved it, then I also disliked the very notion of it then I raveled in it, then it made me itchy, then I questioned myself, why the fuck I liked it at all making me sound crazy as fuck deep sigh However, this story of a Dark Legacy indeed is dark and it evoked so many mixed feels but then again, Natasha brings out her full power of turning smth you might think you ve already read and felt when in fact, you are simultaneously drawn into her own distinguished storytelling. So, the story starts with an incredulous and shocking act of choosing As it appears that there s a decades long arrangement between The Scafoni family and The Willows And it aint pretty by any standard In fact, it s brutal, incredulous and absolutely criminal, especially in this agesBut nevertheless, it still happened It happened to one of the Willow girls, one was picked out by the head of a Scafoni family, the eldest son, to serve the contract made ages ago To serve each brother for one year then she ll be released.Sebastian chose the one that stood out the most The one that made sure she wouldn t be picked and yet it was that very difference that made her stand out as a perfect preyand it took one look for Sebastian to chose his Willow Girl HelenaWhat transpires next is a fucking turmoil of every notable emotions coursing through her read mine veins, as the events take place filled with unwanted deeds yet undeniable chemistry between two enemies.cause this thing between them isn t possible yet it s inevitableThe vile, bursting, crippling emotional and physical exchange between Sebastian and Helena is equally confusing and dubiously messed up, I was on the edge of my own explanatory inner hell.As I tried to understand the reasons, maybe get past the motivation, at least the most evident one just so I would get a slap of a fuckin twist right in my faceI still can t positively claim I liked Sebastian, he s just.too much, for me to unravel at the moment and I need spacelolI however, marvel at the complexity and layered personality description of Helena, from an obvious victim, a sacrificial lamb, over the feisty wit and brush sarcasm and resilience towards the mixing feels of want and acceptance without the ultimate submission I think the hardest part is that I don t understand why some stupid part of me keeps thinking or hoping you ll save me even when I know you won t only to be betrayed by her own emotion I should be repulsed by him, by his touch, but I crave it Crave his hands on me And it s not just sexual I like him taking care of me He can be so gentle, tender than anything I ve ever felt before But it s all a pretense.with all these devious ploys, secrets, agendas and betrayalsHe is not what he seems and he plays by his own rules Or does he Gosh, I honestly believe this is maybe the most descriptive complex and challenging diversity of Natasha Knight s writing. This book is a rusha devious, twisted, complex rush of emotions that leave you gasping for.And I can t bloody wait for the conclusion to this storyThose of you who relished the twisted darkness of Indebted series by Pepper Winters will for sure find their own piece of darken haven in this story Not only was I bogged down by other books I had to read, but there are only so many hours in a day and adding another story wasn t the smartest thing I could do However, I knew if I missed this one, I d live to regret it After reading it, I m 100% sure of that fact All I can think about now is getting my hands on book two, Torn.Wanna know how you can tell if an author is truly badass It s when you can hate the heroine and still give the book five stars At the age of 16, Helena Willow found Not only was I bogged down by other books I had to read, but there are only so many about now is getting my hands on book two, Torn.Wanna know how you can tell if an author is truly badass It s when you can hate the heroine and still give the book five stars At the age of 16, Helena Willow found out some hard truths about her family Her life was not entirely her own and at the age of 21, she stood the possibility of being taken The Willows and the Scafonis had a long standing tradition the eldest Scafoni son was allowed to pick out his very own virgin Willow girl to share with his brothers She was to be theirs for one year each and then returned Planning ahead, Helena decided to take herself out of the running She was one of a quadruplet and thought her non virgin status and the fact that she looked nothing like her blond haired sisters would make herundesirable Seriously girl, have you learned nothing in your young life Everyone knows that the girl who sticks out is the chosen one Might as well have had a spotlight on you and angels singing to announce your presence You re my only ally in this house Then what will I do when my enemies strike Sebastian s eyes caught a glimpse of Helena and there was no turning back He knew, despite her lack of purity, that she was the one he needed But what was once a relationship built on hate and duty soon became something neither of them could have ever predicted Because no matter what, Sebastian, you are a Scafoni and I am a Willow We aren t friends We re enemies I found myself often annoyed by Helena s feeble attempts to assert some form of power over her situation and I laughed at inappropriate moments because of the rhetoric that was prevalent in her perspective She was hard to empathize with and I happened to enjoy the many ways in which Sebastian tormented her I m the last person to use the phraseshe asked for it , however, she kinda did At least her continued idiocy was something that Sebastian found attractive He loved her fire, her sass, and her refusal to admit defeat I think I did too with her, I can t ever get enough I can t ever get close enough Taken was dark, mysterious, and absolutely captivating You ll find that while the author has gifted us with a lot of information to explain certain events, the further you delve into this story, thequestions you ll have I m still uncertain of Sebastian s motivations, the inner workings of his familial relationships, and the meaning of the sick games some of these characters are playing With an ending that truly had me hanging on the proverbial cliff, Torn can t be released soon enough.Release 10.29.2018 Genre Dark favourite author of mine, she is the queen of Mafia men and she didn t disappoint with her unabashed bad boy in this taboo treat.I enjoy Natasha s books because they are never over written, there is always a great balance between the inner monologue and present dialogue She isn t afraid to walk the tight rope with her stories and dance in the darkness and boy do I love the darkness.I was intrigued from page 1 and hooked by paged 2 It s raw and gritty, deep and disturbing This is not a fairy tale, there are no unicorns and rainbows only the deep and dark live in this story so if your sensitive to dubious consent, violence, sadism and kidnapping then this is not the book for you. This finishes with a cliff hanger so I cannot wait to read the 2nd book in this duet.THE CHARACTERS Sebastian is a dark and mysterious one, just when he reveals a redeemable quality he bares his Jagged teeth again He is possessive and protective, broody and brutal Head of the family comes at a sacrifice but is Sebastian able to see it through to the end Helena Strong, sassy and not afraid to fight, despite her weakness for Sebastian she is prepared for battle Helena struggles to define fact from fiction, and after the ultimate betrayal from her family she needs to re access what she has been told and whether it s the truth MY RATINGS All ratings are out of 5 HERO RATING 5HEROINE RATING
